The people behind PFI

Geoscientists, engineers, and mathematicians who develop and deliver Permeable Fracture Imaging.

Jeffrey EppinkFounder

Jeff Eppink leads NLES. He is President and Founder of Enegis, LLC, where PFI was developed, and has more than 40 years of experience in oil and gas, carbon storage, geothermal, and energy policy.

Peter Malin, PhDChief Scientist

Peter Malin is Chief Scientist at NLES and leads the science behind PFI. A seismologist with nearly 40 years of experience, he has led seismic work on geothermal projects in Switzerland, Finland, Iceland, Hawaii, and California.

Peter Geiser, PhDStructural Geologist

Peter Geiser is a structural geologist and one of the principal developers of the fracture-imaging approach behind PFI, which he has applied in oil, gas, and geothermal reservoirs for more than 20 years.

James Geiser, PhDMathematician

Jim Geiser is a mathematician who works on the mathematical methods behind PFI processing. He holds a PhD from MIT.

Anastasia Stroujkova, PhDGeophysicist

Anastasia Stroujkova is a geophysicist who works on PFI survey design and analysis. She specializes in seismic network design, borehole instrumentation, and wave-propagation modeling.

Sergio ValenzuelaElectrical Engineer

Sergio Valenzuela is an electrical engineer who handles field engineering for PFI surveys. He has more than 15 years of experience in seismic monitoring, instrumentation, and RF communication.

Austin MathewsGeologist

Austin Mathews is a geologist and GIS specialist who supports PFI projects with geologic mapping, geospatial analysis, and survey planning.

Hector Ontiveros RosalesStaff Researcher

Hector Ontiveros Rosales supports PFI surveys through field acquisition, seismic network deployment, and data quality control. He holds a B.S. in Earth and Climate Science from Duke University.

Frank Horowitz, PhDGeophysicist

Frank Horowitz is a geophysicist who applies mathematical geophysics to geothermal problems. His career includes CSIRO, the University of Western Australia, and Cornell University.
